Thanks for sharing your considerations and strategies for working with students with special needs. Some of my favorite suggestions you presented were: have students repeat directions in their own words, use a variety of techniques when modeling science vocabulary, and encourage "minds on" thinking by asking thought provoking questions. For another class, I researched strategies to use when teaching ELL student in the Math classroom. A lot of your suggestions were similar, which I thought was interesting. For example, research says to use real world objects to create meaning with math vocabulary and consistency is another important element I uncovered in my research.
Thank you for the excellent information and methods to help teach science to students with disabilities. Many of your suggestions and ideas can carry over to students without disabilities. The bottom line is to make the information accessible to all. Your presentation explains that beautifully. Nice job!
This is a great presentation Rabihah! It has lots of great information. It was great to read this and make connections from our science methods class and our sped classes. A lot of this could help all students and not just disabled students. Well done.
